A few weeks later, the same situation arises.
The boy once again finds himself in the closet with his mom’s lover.
The boy whispers, “It’s dark in here.”
The man, sighing, says, “Yes, it is.”
The boy grins, “I have a baseball glove.”
The man, remembering what happened last time, asks, “How much?”
The boy replies, “$500.”
The man, reluctantly, hands over the money.
Later that day, the father notices his son has a new glove and asks, “Where did you get that kind of money, son?”
The boy hesitates and then says, “I can’t lie to you, Dad.
I sold my baseball and glove.”
Upset, the father says, “That’s not acceptable. We’re going to church so you can confess your sins.”
At church, the boy sits down in the confessional. The door closes, and a voice says, “It’s dark in here.”
The boy replies, “Don’t even start.
I’ll tell you right now, it’s going to cost you $1,000.”
